The Five Falls Loop Trail passes by five waterfalls, is around 7 km and will take about 3-4 hours to hike assuming few stops. Here are some things to note about the trail. If you print the map you should print the instructions below as well. Here are pictures of four of the falls - the Ancaster Old Mill fall is missing.

Tiffany Falls | Washboard Falls | Canterbury Falls | Sherman Falls

A clockwise direction from any parking lot is suggested. From the top center Old Dundas Rd lot here are the directions:

  1. Cross Old Dundas Rd and keep to the right until the pines at the top hill
  2. Just past the pines find a place to go off trail into the valley
  3. It is up to you where you cross the very beautiful secluded stream valley
  4. Come up and you will eventually hit Lower Lion’s Club Rd
  5. Go West along the road and cross at the Hydro field past the Tennis club
  6. The field is private but saves you walking along the busy Wilson Street
  7. You can cross the road and follow the red branch to Tiffany Falls
  8. But you would have to come back out (10 minutes one way)
  9. If you are low on time, you can follow the red path back (Bruce Trail)
  10. You cannot get from the lower part of Tiffany Falls up to Washboard Falls
  11. To get from Wilson to Washboard Falls go East and up the escarpment
  12. Come back West along the brow and walk south parallel the private drive
  13. Cut across the private drive when you hear the falls and explore!
  14. Go out on the West side of the stream and behind the neighborhood
  15. Walk over to Wilson and turn left up to the lights
  16. Turn right onto Old Dundas Rd and look around the Old Mill
  17. Go to the South West Old Mill parking lot and take the trail West
  18. Part way along take a tee-trail North to Canterbury Cascades
  19. Continue East along the brow down to Sherman Falls
  20. Go left to Artaban and past gate and down past the field on left
  21. Turn right onto grassy path and follow back to parking lot

Please beware, this is not an official trail. It is a combination of trails and off trails. It will be quite easy to get lost - there are a lot more woods than would appear when looking at the map. This is like four or five normal family walks so a pretty serious hike and you will probably see only one or two people. It is possible to triple the size of this loop adding another hour to the East and another eight hours to the West as you get way out into the Dundas Valley Conservation Area. We suggest that you Google Map the area so that you know your boundaries.

Enjoy the walk and leave a comment if you make it and let other readers know if you have any tips!
